Late field goal lifts BW past Muskingum in thrilling homecoming game

NEW CONCORD, Ohio – For the second year in a row the Muskingum-Baldwin Wallace game came down the wire.
The Yellow Jackets’ Brandon Vollmer nailed a 23 yard field with 2:14 to play to give Baldwin Wallace (4-2, 3-2) the 23-20 lead and eventual victory. The loss is the fifth straight for Muskingum (1-5, 0-5), after they won their season opener.
The Yellow Jackets scored the first ten points of the game to take an early lead. However, freshman quarterback Brody Hahn rallied the Muskies to keep them in the game. He was 21-36 for 216 yards and two touchdowns. On a day were Muskingum struggled to move the ball on the ground, Hahn ended as the Muskies leading rusher with 31 yards. Senior wide receiver Damon Jones also had a sensational day, catching seven passes for a career high 144 yards and one touchdown.
Following Vollmer’s field goal to give the Yellow Jackets the lead Muskingum had an opportunity to go down field and respond. But their hopes ended when Hahn threw a fourth down interception from the BW 32-yard line with seconds to play
Up next for Muskingum is another home game. They’ll take on 4-2 Heidelberg with a 1 p.m. kickoff.
