Lawrence E. “Pinky” Harmon 88 of Zanesville passed away at 11:15 AM on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the Muskingum County Home. He was born in Graysville, Ohio on March 26, 1923 to the late Walter E. Harmon and Verbia Cline Harmon

Lawrence was a Millwright for Armco Steel, retiring in 1986, a member of Coburn United Methodist Church; he was also a member of Doric Lodge No. 0172, Deavertown, Oh, Amrou Grotto, Zanesville, Oh, Aladdin Shrine a 32 degree Mason a member of the Scottish-Rite Bodies in the Valley of Cambridge, Veterans Club of Armco, Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Zavi Shrine Club.

Surviving is a son Tom (Becky) Harmon of Powell, Ohio; a Daughter Terrie McCarty of Zanesville, a sister Kay (Paul) Schumacher of Venice, Florida; 3 grandchildren; Alison (Brad) Wright, Michael (Paula) McCarty and Susan (Chris) Specht, 4 Great-grandchildren; Sean Specht, Chandler Specht, Andrea McCarty and Lucas McCarty and another Great Grandchild expected later this month.

In addition to his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Leach Harmon, who died February 28, 2003, and two brothers Ronald and Eugene Harmon.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2011 at 11 AM at Coburn United Methodist Church, 3618 Maple Ave in Zanesville with Rev. Dennis Baker officiating. Friends are encouraged to visit with the family at the luncheon at the church immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for memorial contributions to be made to Coburn United Methodist Youth Group or Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care.
