LCL Ready to Roll Against the MVL In Annual All-Star Clash

HEATH, OH

The Licking County team is gearing up for the 42nd annual All-Star Game against the MVL. But for all these seniors, they’re just excited and happy to be back on the high school gridiron one more time.

Connor Toomey, Heath Wide Receiver/Cornerback: “It’s been fun. A bunch of guys around here that are fun. I’ve got a lot of Heath guys on the team, so it was easy coming in here, feeling comfortable. It’s our coaching staff, so everything, everything’s what we did during football season, same plays and everything. So, it’s just a matter of just getting back in the groove and feeling it.”

The team is led by Heath head coach, Tim Ward, who guided the Bulldogs to a Cardinal Division title in 2023. And so far, he’s been impressed with what he’s seeing from his All-Stars.

Tim Ward, Heath Head Coach: “All week long, the guys did real well, picking up the offense extremely well. I was kind of surprised that actually how easy it was to install an offense that was a little bit different than what some of them are used to running. But these guys are all really smart. They’re good football players and you can tell that they just understand the game.”

Managing 32 players from 11 different schools is no easy feat, and Coach Ward understands the unique talent that comes from every single one of his players.

“Every single guy brings something unique to the table, and I mean, there’s things that we want to be able to see every single one of them do, and I want to get every single one of them an opportunity to show off their talent the best.”

The game takes place on Friday night at New Lexington High School at 7 pm, which can also be heard on Z92 radio and streamed live on WHIZnews.com, when the LCL tries to upend the MVL over at Jim Rockwell Stadium.
