Library Offers New Way To Check Out Books

The Muskingum County Library System is offering a new way for members to check out books.

The new source is called Hoopla and it now allows library customers to access reading materials online via the county’s digital library. Assistant Library Director Blair Tom told us more about what to expect.

“This collection includes adult fiction, children’s fiction, non fiction for both as well as graphic novels and the comic books. The collection will grow, but it is just a nice addition to our other download provider, overdrive.”

Tom said they are in the initial launch of this new way to utilize the library. This year, Tom says digital download use is up 5,000 compared to this point last year. Tom explained the new resource is very easy to work through.

“Hoopla is a really customer friendly resource. Our overdrive resource, some customers have had initial challenges with and by the end of the year, we believe that we’ll have that enhanced as well. But HOOPLA is very seamless, user friendly, we’re always happy to talk with people on the phone or in person in our library to help them go through it if they want some personal instruction, but our experience has been, with Hoopla, it is very intuitive. ”

If you would like to try this method of borrowing books yourself, you can do so by visiting the library website. Just click on digital downloads and then the Hoopla link.
