Library to Become More Digitized by 2016

The Muskingum County Library System will see some changes come 2016.

As the end of the year nears, the library is already discussing the 2016 budget. Assistant Director, Blair Tom, said a lot of exciting opportunities are on the agenda for the new year. Tom told us the library is making a significant investment in digital resources, with a new online virtual library and digital book collection.

“The end of this year, certainly the start of next year, we’ll be unveiling a new website and we’ll be unveiling a new digital collection for Muskingum County residents, so that is going to be a real focus,” Tom said.

The new customer-based site will be more convenient, interactive and easier to navigate. Tom said in the new year, the library will continue its partnership with local schools and Dollar General to bring new literacy programs to Zanesville, as well as, other educational opportunities.

“We’re really finding an interest with adults and families for discover and create, those enrichment, entertaining kinds of opportunities, where they either learn to make something, such as crafts or something that they can use in their home,” Tom said.

Tom said the rest of the 2016 budget will reflect community priorities.
