MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio-The Muskingum County Library System is unveiling its “Talking Books” program this Thursday.

Displays about the program will be up at all six library locations. Talking Books is a free program offered through the State Library System.

“Books arrive for free via the mail from the Ohio Library for the Blind and Physically Disabled. This is specifically for residents who have visual impairments and physical disabilities like being blind or have a registered learning disability.”, outreach director Sarah Brinkman said.

The library will send a machine and book cartridges to be read aloud by the machines to members of the program. Sign up is very easy and can be done over the phone.

“There’s several different ways that you can sign up. The easiest way is for you to contact the Muskingum County Library. As I said there’s displays at all six locations, those displays are going to include a sample of the machine and several books. If you’re interested in the program but not sure what the machine is all about you can come in and take a look and see if it’s gonna be a good fit for you.”, Brinkman added of the program.

Librarians will be available to assist interested parties in sampling the machines.
