Licking County Softball Powers to Square off for State Title

One thing is for sure come Saturday: the D-II state softball champion will hail from Licking County.

Granville’s Abby Barker tossed a 14-strikeout no-hitter and knocked home the game-winning run to lead the Lady Aces past Jefferson Area, 1-0, in the first state semifinal game. In the folllowing game, Lakewood’s Courtney Vierstra faced the minimum 21 batters and tossed a one-hitter to lead the Lady Lancers past La Grange Keystone, 4-0.

That means the two LCL powers will battle for the state championship Saturday at 1 p.m. at Firestone Stadium in Akron. The Lady Lancers are 2-0 against Granville this season.
