Little Mermaid Auditions Held
The Little Mermaid has come all the way from the deep blue and will soon grace the Zanesville Community Theater stage.
Now the only question is… who will play the famous red head? About 40 young people came to audition for the dream Disney lead and it didn’t take long at all to get them comfortable with the material.
“Well the good thing is that since it’s one of the classic movies, lots of kids have seen it so they’re familiar with the music and they know the characters so it’s just fun because if they’ve been in productions before to be able to tell that story on stage is really exciting and if they haven’t ever been in a play since they’re familiar with the characters in the story sometimes it helps them really get into it,” said Gantzer.
The play is a ‘Junior’ edition meaning only those 18 and under could vie for the roles and the one of the directors said Disney planned it that way.
“Disney specifically designed shows for young people, for schools, and younger actors so it’s only for people who are 18 or under,”said Gantzer.
The show will take the stage the weekend of September 11 and since it’s filled with a young cast, the showtime will be an early 7:00 p.m. start time. For more information you can visit www.zct.org.
