Live Nativity

A Nativity scene comes to life at White Cottage Church of the Brethren tonight.

Marking its 3rd year, White Cottage Church members volunteered their time to emulate the Nativity scene.  The free event was held outside on church property where the public was able to kneel at the manger and pet live animals; including a camel! Pastor Dewayne Heck says the live Nativity was a way to give back to the community.

"I think it brings the community together. It’s what we call a safe haven. A lot of times if people are looking for a church, they might feel intimidated, this is a way they can interface with church people and not feel threatened," said Pastor Heck.

The church also held an open house inside where people could step in from the cold and enjoy live Christmas music, refreshments, and hot soup. If you are keeping track, only seven days until Christmas.
