Local Churches Uniting for Downtown Block Party
Four local churches are coming together in unity for a night of fun and celebration.
Central Trinity United Methodist Church, Union Baptist, Immanuel Church of Christ and Trinity Evangelical Lutheran are all teaming up to host a block party in downtown Zanesville this weekend. The second annual event is Saturday, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. in the parking lot of Central Trinity, on Seventh Street.
“There will be a big tent out here, where we will have live entertainment, there’s no charge, we have food, games for children and adults, and there will be face painting,” said Jim McLaughin, Central Trinity Musical Artist.
McLaughlin said critters from The Wilds are expected to be a big hit among the kids. The Zanesville Fire and Police Departments will be making an appearance as well.
“I heard recently that The Wilds has a bunch of new babies so maybe we’ll have a new baby drop by also, and there will be some raffles and some games to play, so it’s just a fun time in downtown Zanesville with these four churches working together,” McLaughlin said.
The party is a way for the churches to give back to the community. McLaughin said they will also be accepting canned food donations at the event, for Christ’s Table.
