ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Many kids rely on school lunch programs as a major source of nutrition.

Kroger Corporate Affairs Manager Mark Bruce discussed why his company and Kellanova have partnered with No Kid Hungry to keep kids fed during the summer.

“Kroger is excited to partner with any of our partners, any organization that’s working to end hunger in our communities,” Bruce said. “Childhood hunger, it’s an issue that most people don’t realize is… as big as it is, especially here in Southeast Ohio. One-in-five kids go hungry in Southeast Ohio. So  any organization that can provide funding to groups that can help end hunger, Kroger is here to support them as best we can.”

Kellanova is the parent company of Kellogg’s and Director of Division Sales Jacob Labreque described why Kellanova’s Nutri-Grain division has teamed with Kroger in the donation to No Kid Hungry.

“Kids need to have a great summer,” Labreque said. “And as we go into the summer, we think of the millions of kids across the country that rely on school meals. Summer can be the hungriest time of the year. And so that’s why Nutri-Grain has partnered with Kroger to donate $50,000 dollars to the No Kid Hungry foundation, really to tackle the issue of childhood hunger, as well as food insecurity.”

The Kellanova Better Days Promise is a corporate initiative that seeks to advance sustainable and equitable access to food for four billion people by the end of 2030.

No Kid Hungry is an organization that works with local schools and community groups across the country including the Children’s Hunger Alliance to help battle food insecurity.
