Local Foundation offers scholarships to area High Schools

Zanesville, Ohio- One local foundation is helping to ease the pain of college expenses.

The Muskingum County Community Foundation announced several scholarships this afternoon. Educational Assistant Katie McCarthy explained the Carolyn Ann Weiner Scholarship is for High School senior students who have faced an extreme challenge.

“Whether that be a long-term illness or a severe injury. Something along those lines that could have kept them from succeeding in their schooling but that they are wanting to go ahead and continue their education and go on to college.”

The Director of Donor Services for the Muskingum County Community Foundation Juliet Lacy noted the Olaf and Olga Hanson Scholarship is for college sophomores with an interest in education.

“This scholarship is available to anyone who has a permanent residence in Muskingum County. They must be pursuing a degree in education. It can be either an undergraduate degree or you can be pursuing a masters or doctorate in education.”
