Local Foundation raises Money for Veterans
The Veteran’s Appreciation Foundation is getting set for a big weekend long event in June.
The Veteran’s Appreciation Weekend begins June 12 and runs through June 14. It will include a ‘Flags of Honor’ Presentation, a poker run, live music as Terry’s Tavern and a golf outing at Green Valley. Owner of Terry’s Tavern and member of the Veteran’s Appreciation Foundation Tim Arnold said the event is all about changing the message about veterans.
“All of the negative news and the commentaries in the paper… we thought something positive ‘ought to be said about our veterans, ” said Arnold.
All proceeds earned at the weekend long event will go toward the Wounded Warrior Project. Arnold said that he hopes to see the community come together to support this cause.
“I think it’s important that we as veterans show our appreciation as well as the rest of the community of what some of the veterans have done over the years,” said Arnold. “It’s a silent group, they don’t have a lot to say but they did an awful lot for our country and the rights that we enjoy. ”
Anyone interested in learning more about the event can visit Terry’s Tavern, Fink’s Harley Davidson, or Green Valley Golf Course.
