Local Group to Honor First Responders

A yearly event honoring area first responders will be back in Zanesville this September.

Cry Out America will return to American Pride in September. Coordinator, Amy Moore, said the open space at the business gives the hundreds of people who attend the event room to spread out. As a whole, the event allows people to celebrate with first responders.

“We’ve heard so much negative news today about police officers and all that,” Moore said. “I believe, in my heart, that more police officers than not are wonderful people, and they chose that profession because they want to work for us.”

New this year, Moore is in the early stages of planning a luncheon for area first responders. She said it’s another way to honor them on a day that hits near to the hearts of all of us.

“It’s actually on 9/11 when the first responders went in to help all the people in the fire department in New York City, so I think it’s nice that we’re honoring them right on 9/11 because we want to remember and honor them.”

Moore said putting the Cry Out America event and the luncheon together requires a lot of work. During her meeting with the county commissioners Monday, she asked for assistance in finding people to help with the event. If you’re interested, you can contact her at (740) 453-4973.
