Local Kids Take To The Sky

Local kids got an opportunity to hit the sky today at the Riverside Airport.

The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) gave free air plane rides to kids 8-17. It is all part of the Young Eagles program.

“What it is trying to do is get the youth re-energized about aviation as they grow up. They will learn to fly and become a part of our organization and just pilots in general,” explains EAA member, Robert Norman.

The pilots are expecting to take around a hundred children up in the sky today. Each ride lasts about twenty minutes and pilots say all the kids can’t stop smiling. Tanner Watson is one of the kids that took a plane ride today. His plane ride was a surprise birthday present from his family.

“Well they wouldn’t tell me what it was and then we got here and I was like I get to ride in the plane, yes!,” exclaims Watson.
