Local Man Competes on National TV.
A local mailman finally made it on his favorite game show on national TV.
Andy Walcutt a mailman from Frazeysburg is a contestant on Who Wants to be a Millionaire.
"It’s been my favorite show since I first saw it. I thought this show was made for people like me. I know a million things that aren’t worth a dime. I thought I can answer some of this stuff it looks easy," Walcutt said.
But getting on wasn’t so easy. Walcutt auditioned for years, taking tests by phone, online and even traveling to the city’s where the show was holding auditions. Still no luck. So this summer he checked the website and they said people could submit a video. So he sent of video of him singing while delivering the mail. The show liked his video so he took another test and three weeks later he got the call.
When he got there they would put all the contestants in a room where they played old Who Wants to be a Millionaire shows and they would call each person in randomly.
"I wasn’t nervous at all until being the on deck contestant. I’m watching the other woman answer these questions and I’m thinking I don’t know that. I’d have to ask the audience on that. Have I made a mistake. And then the floor director said alright you’re next. And I felt fine after that," Walcutt explained.
He said it was so fun but his favorite part was the meet the audience pep rally. He said it was so exciting and hopes everyone gets the opportunity to do something as fun and exciting in their life.
Even though Walcutt couldn’t tell us what he won, he did say the show mails the checks out 30 days after the show airs in one lump sum. He said all his persistence finally paid off. The show Andy will be on airs this Thursday and Friday right here on WHIZ.
