Local Mental Health Board awarded the Culture of Quality Certification

Award Health

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Muskingum Area Board of Mental Health and Recovery Services recently was awarded the Culture of Quality Certification.

The Mental Health and Recovery Services manage alcohol and drug abuse recovery facilities in 6 surrounding counties. Executive Director, Misty Cromwell said getting the certification makes their service more of a statewide expectation.

“It is a quality improvement process that basically is developed to improve quality for the statutory functions that each board is required under the federal state government. It increases accountability but it gives us the flexibility to be able to meet the unique needs of the community,” said Cromwell.

The Culture of Quality program is put on by the Ohio Association of County Behavioral Health Authorities. Cromwell said it was not mandatory, however it makes them a more established organization.

“Well, one of the things about quality improvement is if we can improve our effectiveness in operations with the board. We are ultimately able to transfer that to our contact providers and also the clients that we serve,” Cromwell added.

Cromwell said they have already implemented what they took from the program, and have already began making adjustments to the way they run the organization.
