Local Resident Calls for Action at Dresden and Taylor Intersection
The call for action at the Dresden Road and Taylor Street intersection continued Monday when one resident came forward at City Council.
Dresden Rd. resident Scott Bunting addressed the at least 15 accidents that he and his wife have witnessed in front of their home since they moved to 2401 Dresden Road in 2004, one crash costing $42,000 in home repairs after a Jeep Liberty struck the house going 50 mph.
"You have enough of these incidents happen and you finally reach a point where enough’s enough," said Bunting.
He’s now asking the city to create a solution to keep his home, family, and neighbors safe. A Traffic Committee will soon meet to make a plan to keep cars on the road and out of Bunting’s yard.
"Nobody wants a guardrail in front of their home but but at this point a guardrail would be fine with me," said Bunting.
Public Safety Director Fred Buck said many involved in accidents have been under the influence of alcohol leaving bars from the Linden Ave. area. Local law enforcement will work to monitor the area more frequently.
"We’re just going to have to work on the enforcement of that area," said Buck. "I talked with Captain Coury today. It’s not just something we can wave a wand at and make it go away so it’s going to take some work."
The Traffic Committee will meet on Feb. 18 to discuss possible solutions. Until then, Buck asks drivers to take note of the intersection and drive safely.
