VOLLEYBALL

TRI-VALLEY: 3 COSHOCTON: 0

The Scotties had three players with double-digit kills as Lexi Howe posted 12, Eva Dittmar had 11, and Abby Stanford added 10. Hannah King had 13 digs, while Elle McLoughlin dished out 23 assists. 

Leaders for Coshocton were Lindsay Bryant with 6 kills, Jalynn West with 10 assists, Miyah Davis with 9 digs, and Addy Gordon with 2 aces. 

The loss drops Coshocton to 7-4 overall and 4-4 in league play while Tri Valley improves to 11-1 overall and sits atop the MVL big-school division at 7-1. 

JOHN GLENN: 3 WEST MUSKINGUM: 0

John Glenn took the match in three sets 25-9, 25-20, 25-17.

The Little Muskies Abby Butchel had two aced serves and 6 kills. Emma Johnson added 10 kills and 12 digs. Lauren Blair had 21 assists and 11 digs and Kara Fields had 6 blocks.

In the loss the Tornadoes Sydney McWhorter had 11 kills and 15 digs and 4 aced serves. Kyler Moore had 7 kills and 16 digs. Kinley Dodson added 21 assist. Camryn Welch had 1 stuffed block and Gianna Ewert had 11 digs.

The Blue Aces Paige Hamilton had 5 kills. Clara Wildermuth had 5 kills. Kaylin Fuhrman had 8 digs and Sophia Farley had 3 blocks. 

MAYSVILLE: 0 NEW LEXINGTON: 3

Maysville fell 9-25, 10-25 and 21-25. New Lexington was led by Jerilynn Koehler with 2 aces, 4 blocks and 11 kills. Lizzie Ellis had 1 ace and 15 assists. Braya Jones had 5 aces and 8 digs.

Maysville’s leaders included Emma McPeek with 1 ace and 17 digs. Olivia McPeek with 1 ace and 10 digs and Izzy Hutchinson with 4 assists and 5 kills.

ROSECRANS: 3 MILLERSPORT: 1

The Bishops defeated the Lakers 25-17, 25-22, 26-28 and 26-24. Ellie Wilson led Rosecrans with 18 kills. Kennedy Tolliver had 12 aces. Jenna McLaughlin tallied 3 blocks. Kelly Goggin had 11 digs and 33 assists.

The Panthers were defeated 16-25, 15-25 and 6-25. Leading for Licking Valley was Mandy Hains with 6 Kills, 2 Blocks
Emily Bone with 12 assists. Emma Gant with 13 digs and one ace. Bree Creech with one ace.

The Bulldogs fell in straight sets 13-25, 15-25, 13-25.

Newark fell 25-29, 22-25, 25-23 and 25-21. Junior Jenna Shackleford 9 Kills, 3 Blocks, and 14 Digs. Senior Layne Sanford 7 Kills, 20 Assists, and 9 Digs. Sophomore Carlee Thompson 10 Assists, 1 Kill, and 20 Digs. Junior Jaylen Jackson 3 Kills, 1 Block, and 11 Digs.

MEADOWBROOK: 3 RIVER VIEW: 0

Meadowbrook hosted River View and beat the Black Bears in straight sets 25-13, 25-14, 25-16. They improve to 10-1 (7-1 MVL) on the season.

Cambridge Varsity beats New Philadelphia 25-23, 25-16, 25-23. Camryn Gebhart had 2 assists, 16 digs, 17/17 serving, 11 kills. Ava Byerly: 26 assists, 15 digs, 14/14 serving, 1 kill. Ziciah Gibson: 21 digs, 11/11 serving with 1 ace, 1 block, 8 kills. Cambridge travels to Martins Ferry Thursday. JV starts at 5:30. Record: 8-5

The Ceramics dropped straight sets 25-7, 25-10 and 25-11. Sheridan’s Alexis Bradley had 6 kills, 24 assists and 8 digs. Reagan Davis added 11 kills, 10 digs and 8 aces. She was 100 percent serving. Nora Saffell had 9 kills and 1 block. Jamisyn Stinson had 6 kills and 12 digs.

GIRLS SOCCER:

Erin Selfe had 9 saves in goal for the Panthers.

LIBERTY UNION: 5 HEATH: 2

The Bulldogs goals came from Allie Dunlap and Bri Keck who also tallied one assist a piece. Goaltender Emily Hudson made 14 saves.

NEWARK: 4 REYNOLDSBURG: 0

The Wildcats goalkeeper Maris Knowlton needed to make just one save to secure Newark’s 4-0 victory. Newark scored three goals in the first half and one in the second. Zoey Milton had 2 goals. Pippy Brown and Ali Farnsworth each had a goal a piece.

1st singles: Kenna Hauser won 6-1, 6-0. 2nd singles: Abby Armstrong won 6-0,6-1. 3rd singles: Natalie Breckenridge Won 6-1, 6-2. 1st doubles: Fallon Pitts + Addi Taylert won 6-0, 6-1 and in 2nd doubles: Andy Hupp + Azzure Horne won 6-1, 6-1.

With the win, Newark is 4-5 overall. Next up, we host Marietta on Wednesday at 4:00

Philo’s Heath Goodwin scored four goals.

Newark dropped a hard fought game against OCC division rival Reynoldsburg 3-1. Noah Marvin made several great saves to keep Newark in the game through the first half. Elijah Mason scored an unassisted goal on a great individual run to put the Wildcats on the board early in the 2nd half. With the loss, Newark falls to 5-4-2, and will travel to Mt Vernon Thursday to take on the Yellow jackets

John Glenn came out on top during a dual match at Wildfire. The Little Muskies Owen Van Fossen shot a 35. Noah Dever 35. Adam Johnson 42. Braden Rice 42. Jackson Xanders 42 and Drew Johnson 48.

Philo’s AJ Harper shot a 41. Connor Davis a 42. Addison Mershon a 43. Breanna Mortimer a 45. AJ Layton a 54. Blake Hiles a 64.

John Glenn concludes the MVL season Friday at Jaycees (9:00) in the MVL Tournament.

SHERIDAN: 163 TRI-VALLEY: 165

Only two strokes separated the Generals from the Scotties in their latest golf match. Sheridan’s Blaine Hannan led the team with a 39, Reed Coconis and Blake Turnes each shot a 41 and Jake Paxton shot a 42.

CROSS COUNTRY:

New Lexington took part in a tri-race with Buckeye Trail and Crooksville. Buckeye Trail came away as the team winner as they were the only team with five competitors. On the individual boy’s side New Lex’s Darek Pyle finished first with a time of 18:39. Buckeye Trail’s Austin Hastings was second with a time of 18:40 and New Lexington’s Eli McCord was third with a time of 20:11.

In the girls race New Lexington’s Sydney Hambel finished first with a time of 19:45. Buckeye Trail’s Kathryn Williams was second with a time of 20:21 and New Lexington’s Grace Baker finished third with a time of 21:23.
