Losing Weight and Gaining Support
Dieting can be challenging for many, but one area woman is showing it’s not impossible to shed those extra pounds.
Angie Jones said she has been battling weight-loss her entire life and has finally found something that works, support. Last year, she joined a womens support group that meets weekly to discuss their dieting progress.
"It was encouraging to meet with them every week, it was exciting to start watching the pounds start coming off," said Jones.
Angie saw dramatic results from a simple calorie counted diet along rigorous exercise. To date, she has lost nearly 180 pounds. She said all it takes is a common sense approach to food and changing your lifestyle.
"You have to do it an a healthy way or you’re not going to keep it off and you have to be able to set yourself up on a plan that you can live with the rest of your life because this is how I live now, this isn’t going to have an end to it," she said.
She was recently invited to attend a taping of the Oprah Winfrey show this month for people who have lost 100 pounds or more. She said if she can do it, anyone can.
"Set obtainable short goals for yourself, because every time you reach one that’s incentive that gives you an encouragement to keep going." said Jones.
Her support group welcomes new members; they meet every Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kensington Village’s Main Office in Zanesville.
