ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The gas prices are continuing to drop and locals are feeling grateful for the extra money in their pockets.

According to AAA, nine states saw the price of gas drop below $2 within the past week. Mark Lane, Manager at Mother Tucker’s said they are now down to $1.79.

“It’s great. Around the holidays, people get out, see family, go where they need to be,” Lane said. “It’s really important because a lot of people have to come back. Jobs are kind of slow, it helps them be able to go see family that they haven’t seen for a long time.”

There are many factors into why the energy prices are down however, there are reports it will be back up in the springtime. For now people in the community are enjoying it while they can.

“It’s been 18 months since it’s been this low so that’s a long time. Hopefully, it’ll stay low and people go on their holiday, New Years, save money and go see family and enjoy it,” Lane said.

He said it is almost like a big Christmas present for the community.
