Low Voter Turnout Reported for Ohio Primary

Low voter turnout was reported for Primary Election Day in Zanesville as Ohio and 10 other states took part in "Super Tuesday."

Poll workers we talked to in Muskingum county reported a low voter turnout.

James Singer Center Precinct 4-A Presiding Judge Bertha Glosser believed the numbers are low because of the imbalance of party candidates.

"I think it’s the primary, we only have one person running on the democrat side, and there’s four running on the other side," said Glosser.

Glosser said Tuesday morning out of over 400 active voters, only around 20 had actually cast their ballot.

VFW Precinct 2-C Presiding Judge Lynn Dennis reported similar numbers in her precinct.

Dennis believed once the polls close, she would be going home quickly.

"Once 7:30 p.m. comes and we close our doors, we can tally up all of our machines and we work together so well, everybody takes a machine down, and we’re in and out of here, we’ll be probably out of here by 8:00 p.m.," said Dennis.

Both Glosser and Dennis expected voting to pick up before the polls closed at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
