Making Sure Veterans Aren’t ‘Forgotten’

One group in Zanesville is doing its part to remember those who are fast becoming forgotten.

Located on Putnam Avenue in Zanesville “Forgotten Veterans” is open and welcomes in the men and women who have served our country and just need a little help. “The “Forgotten Veterans” is here to help veterans in need, we help them with utilities, with food, rent, basically whatever else they might happen to need. But they do have to show us there dd214 and it does require that we have that as a copy and we also want to be able to help them with whatever actual need they may have and they have to show us proof of that.” Says Forgotten Veterans Director Jeff Salsberry.

Funded by donations, the group goes all around Ohio not just Zanesville lending a helping hand to those they feel have been pushed aside and deserve the benefits they are entitled to.”We started this because we’re wanting to see the veterans get the help that they need. They’ve been pushed back quite a bit, when we started this we wanted to help the veterans get back on their feet and get stabilized and back in the community and actually give them the recognition they deserve.”

“Forgotten Veterans” offers help to any vet, it doesn’t matter if you went to war or not.

Forgotten Veterans is located at 908 Putnam Avenue in Zanesville.
