Man admits to intentionally striking a OSHP vehicle

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – According to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP), Michael McGuire struck a patrol car with his 2013 Toyota Corolla. The trooper was conducting a traffic stop on the right berm of I-70 when the strike occurred.

The press release says McGuire’s vehicle hit the patrol car so hard that the patrol car was forced into the vehicle the trooper had pulled over. The trooper and the two occupants from the stopped car were transported to Genesis Hospital in Zanesville with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the patrol’s press release, McGuire later admitted to intentionally striking the patrol car. A criminal complaint was filed through the Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office charging him with two counts of felonious assault on a peace officer and seven counts of felonious assault related to the occupants of the stopped vehicle.

The crash remains under investigation at this time.
