Man Charged with Attempted Murder after Driving to Zanesville from North Carolina

Zanesville,OH- A man who Zanesville Police said drove from Asheboro, North Carolina to Zanesville after making threats to kill his ex-girlfriend is now behind bars.
Zanesville Police Detective Sgt. Phil Michel said Jamie Johnson is charged with four counts of menacing by stalking with a firearm specification, violating a protection order with a firearm specification, four counts of improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle and one count of attempted murder with a firearm specification.
Authorities said on October 2, they were informed by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina that Johnson was making his way to Zanesville with multiple firearms after making threats to kill his ex-girlfriend.
Zanesville Police had a description of his vehicle and were on the watch for it. Police located the vehicle later in the evening on Main Street and conducted a traffic stop. Johnson was taken into custody without incident. He’s currently being held in the Zanesville City Jail on a $1 million bond. He’ll be arraigned October 7.
