Man Killed in Accident on Adamsville Road

The State Highway Patrol says one man is dead after an accident on Adamsville Road Friday evening.

The accident happened around 5:30 p.m. just north of Northfield Road.  The State Patrol said 16-year-old Stephanie Straube of Zanesville was traveling southbound and went left of center striking a northbound vehicle head-on.  

The male driver of the northbound vehicle, identified as 44-year-old Donald Sowers Jr. of Zanesville, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The patrol said he was not wearing a seatbelt. Straube was wearing a seatbelt and was transported by Community Ambulance to Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital where she was treated and released.

The accident remains under investigation, and the patrol is investigating to see if drugs or alcohol might have been a factor in the crash.
