Man Sentence on Child Porn Charges

A Zanesville man will spend nine years in prison for 30 charges related to child pornography.

46-year-old Virgil Montgomery II received the sentence in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court for five second-degree-felony charges of illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material, five fourth-degree-felony charges of illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material, 10 second-degree-felony charges of pandering obscenity involving a minor and 10 fourth-degree-felony charges of pandering obscenity involving a minor.

In addition to his nine year sentence, Judge Kelly Cottrill required Montgomery be classified as a Tier II sex offender and be put on post-release control for five years.

Montgomery could have faced 142.5 years in prison.
