Man shot, killed by police officer in Ohio’s capital city

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A man was shot and killed early Tuesday by a police officer in Ohio’s capital city, authorities said.
The shooting in Columbus occurred shortly before 2 a.m., after city officers responded to reports of a disturbance in a neighborhood.
A police spokesman said there was “an interaction” between an officer and a man involved in the incident, and the officer shot the man at least once. The man was taken to a hospital but was pronounced dead there a short time later, and his name has not been released.
Further details about the shooting and the disturbance call were not disclosed, and the name of the officer who fired the shot was not released. No other injuries were reported, and authorities have not said if the man had any weapons. The state’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation is leading the investigation, as is city policy for shootings involving Columbus police.
