MCBI’s Shark Tub in Need of Entrepreneurs

If you’re a local entrepreneur, it’s time to get your pitch idea ready.

The Muskingum County Business Incubator’s annual “Shark Tub” event is back in Zanesville this January, and already looking for talent. Based off of the hit ABC show, the “Shark Tank” inspired event follows the same format.

“There’s a ton of entrepreneurs in the community and in the surrounding area that people just don’t know about, and they’re these small, innovative companies that are growing and starting something that can really scale up to be something quite substantial for the area,” said Executive Director, Larry Triplett.

The event is open to public, and more than 300 attendees will be given $100,000 in play money to invest in the most creative businesses. From there, the top three organizations will go in front a panel of secret ‘shark’ investors to pitch their business model, in hopes of taking home the top prize.

“Anybody in the world can come to this event, it’s only $12 to get in, and it’s a real fun environment, there’s food, there’s entertainment, there’s music, and we encourage everybody in the community to come,” Triplett said.

The winner could potentially take home $8,000 in prize money. For companies interested in participating, the entry fee is $100. Friday is the first deadline. To enter, contact MCBI, at 740-453-3649.
