MCCF Now Handling McIntire Scholarship

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County Community Foundation is a major source for high school students looking for options in regards to scholarship funding.

MCCF Scholarship Manager Andrea Polen announced how the MCCF has joined with the Board of the John McIntire Estate to handle the tasks surrounding the annual, John McIntire Education Scholarship.

“The John McIntire Scholarship has been around, this is actually the 75th anniversary of awarding students; set up by John McIntire himself with the goal of awarding students in Zanesville, who have a pretty strong financial need and need additional support to be able to fulfill their goals and their dreams of attending college,” Polen said.

The MCCF already handles applications for several, various, community grants and scholarships. Now they are adding the responsibility of collecting and processing the McIntire Scholarship applications to their list.

“It’s one of the more simple and easier scholarships to be eligible for,” Polen said. “It’s just living within the Zanesville city limits and then also having a financial need. Over the last 5 years, the John McIntire Estate has awarded over $3 Million dollars in scholarships, just within 5 years to over 400 students.”

The application deadline for this year’s McIntire Scholarship is Monday, May 20th with the awardees to be announced later in the summer.
