ZANESVILLE, OH – The Muskingum County Community Foundation has taken a step forward in addressing the housing needs of Muskingum County.

MCCF has confirmed the sale of the former Leasure Family Farm at 3870 Frazeysburg Road to Mr. Steve Layman of Leasure Farm Development, LLC. Mr. Layman has expressed his commitment to developing the 74.5-acre property into a residential area that is expected to introduce up to 100-single family detached homes into the community.

“We really are appreciative of the City and the Port Authority, along with local banks that came together to put together a housing study that showed that there was a need for housing within Muskingum County. Us being able to then work with Mr. Layman to bring him in to develop this housing, I think will help alleviate some of the pressures that we’ve got,” MCCF Chief Executive Officer Brian Wagner said.

In addition to the homes, the project may also bring apartments, garden homes, and condominiums. The next steps of this project involves finalizing the design and seeking zoning approval through the City of Zanesville.

“I know Mr. Layman and the City have already had some discussions of about what the site could look like. So, that’ll be the next steps to work on that,” Wagner said.

MCCF would like to thank the City of Zanesville, Muskingum County Port Authority, Lepi and Associates Real Estate Services, and NAI Ohio Equities for assisting.
