MCLS Begins Community Education Program

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio-The Muskingum County Library System is looking to help educate the community on social matters.
The library will be holding community events with speakers every third Thursday of the month. This month’s program is called “What is Culture?” by Dr. Anita Jackson and will be held this Thursday, March 18th.
“The community education series focuses a lot on race, culture, diversity and communication, and what we can do as a community to learn more about this, and to work together to build a safe atmosphere for all citizens… It is a monthly training, the third Thursday of every month, we have local facilitators and educators doing the panel discussions.”, assistant director Stephanie Freas said on Monday morning.
The meetings will be held over Zoom to maintain COVID safety. The library is hoping to spread a better sense of togetherness through these classes.
“The reason that we want to have a community education series here in Zanesville is because anyone can attend a training online, however our purpose is to have community education for the citizens of Muskingum county, because we want to focus on the culture of Muskingum County, race in Muskingum county, and diversity in the county.”, Freas continued.
The classes can be registered for on the library’s website.
