MCLS Brings Back Storytime Fun for Little Readers
ZANESVILLE, OH – If you’re looking for a fun way to spark your little one’s love for reading, the Muskingum County Library System has you covered.
MCLS is bringing back their beloved Storytime programs, starting the last week of February. These sessions are perfect for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers, helping them develop important early literacy skills in a fun and interactive way.
“Literacy is the foundation of everything. It’s very important. If you don’t have literacy, you are behind. Literacy helps you build those building blocks to help you succeed in the future. We try our best to help get kids ready for kindergarten, so when they start school, they’re ready to take off and succeed,” Youth Service Manager Katie Merritt said.
The programs include stories, songs, and activities designed to keep little minds engaged and learning. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to join in on the fun, too!
“We always do about two to three stories. We also help parents and guardians’ model how to do this at home. So, not only are we reading to the kids, but we’re also showing the adults how to hold the book, how to point things out, and how to ask comprehension questions so that they can model that at home when they’re not at Storytime. Then, we do songs and activities to let the kids get up and active,” Merritt said.
Storytime’s will be held at branch library locations and the Welcome Center. To register or for more details on upcoming Storytime programs, check out Muskingum County Library dot com for all of the dates and locations.
