MCLS Hosting Babysitting Workshop for Teens and Tweens

DRESDEN, OH – Ready to become a confident babysitter? The Muskingum County Library System is helping teens and tweens learn the basics.
The library system, in partnership with the Ohio State University Extension Office, is hosting a fun and informative babysitting workshop for ages 11 through 16. The one-hour class will teach important skills like child safety, communicating with parents, problem solving, and even fun activity ideas for kids.
“This is aimed for tweens and teens. We’re getting ready to get into the summer months which is a great time for them to start babysitting and maybe earn a little bit of money. This is a great opportunity for them to get some financial information and learn how to be responsible.” Teen Assistant Librarian, Alyssa Fisher said.
The workshop will be led by an experienced instructor and is designed to help young babysitters feel more prepared before taking on the job. The class will take place on Wednesday, May 27th from 4 to 5:30 at the Dresden Branch Library.
“It is an expert from the OSU Extension Office, Alexis. She offers it twice a year so that way she can maintain her certification to teach it. Each teen or tween who participates also receives a certificate saying that they have completed it and are certified to babysit.” Fisher said.
Registration is required for this event. You can register or find more information by visiting the Muskingum County Library System’s website.
