MCLS Offer Service at Your Fingertips

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The 21st century is often referred to as the information age and the way that information is communicated differs from ways of yesteryear.

Muskingum County Library System Marketing and Communications Director Sean Fennell explained how the library is taking steps toward keeping up with the times and adapting to the public’s preferences.

“So Hoopla is an app or website that you can access eBooks and audiobooks, movies, comic books, magazines and more directly on our website or again in any of our app stores. The difference between Hoopla Flex and the instant borrows is that Hoopla Flex are titles that otherwise publishers would not sell to public libraries. So we have to essentially purchase them in a different way and then loan them out to you in a different way,” Fennell said.

From print on paper to print, images and videos displayed on digital devices, many customers prefer the convenience of an entire library right at their fingertips.

“So Hoopla really is meant for everyone,” Fennell said. “There is a Hoopla Kids mode as well, you can access for your little readers out there. But it’s also… it’s just such a convenient service that we’re able to offer for our community. It means that you don’t have to necessarily come into the library  to access our collection. We understand that people’s lives are busy and this is one of the ways that we’re trying to meet people where they are and provide services to everyone.”

The Hoopla Flex is a free service that the library offers through each of their libraries across the county. For more information you can visit your nearest Muskingum County Library branch location.
