Meet Caldwell!: This Week’s Pet of the Week
ZANESVILLE, OH – This week’s Pet of the Week may be timid but he’s not letting that stop him from finding his forever home.
Meet Caldwell! He’s a one-year-old husky/shepherd mix, who’s up to date on his vaccines, neutered, and is eagerly awaiting to be adopted.
April Gibson, the executive director of the Animal Shelter Society, said Caldwell came in with 6 of his siblings almost two years ago because of a serious case of animal neglect.
“We still have Caldwell and Kelly, they were kept in very small kennels and not socialized so they’re very, very timid,” Gibson said. “It’s going to take a very patient home, where they can spend time with the animal and be very patient. He doesn’t have any dislikes, he loves his pools, he loves cats, he loves other dogs, he’s just very, very nervous and not trusting of people.”
Gibson also wanted to report the numbers from the Catapalooza event they held this week.
She said it was a rollercoaster of a day but she’s proud of how her staff handled each animal with so much compassion and care.
“All hands were on deck, we had board members here, volunteers, all the staff, vet staff and we had over 50 surgeries,” Gibson said. “Of those 50 surgeries for those felines, half of them were in heat, so if you think about that and the gestation and that these momma kitties can have up to 5 litters, you can imagine how many babies we actually saved from this spay and neuter.”
Gibson also said Pumps for Paws and Pups is still going on and will continue until the end of March.
She said for every gallon of gas purchased at AJ’s Fuel and Food Mart, 3¢ will be donated back to the Animal Shelter to help animals like Caldwell.
