Meet Casper: The Friendly Puppy Who’s Ready for Adoption

ZANESVILLE, OH – Thursday was Halloween and we’ve got a little “Casper” who’s ready to steal your heart!

This week’s Pet of the Week at the Animal Shelter Society is a two-month-old, female, Terrier American Staffordshire who’s looking for a forever home. Casper might share her name with a friendly ghost, but she’s full of energy and love. She’s an adorable puppy and is eager to play and cuddle.

“She is a puppy. She’s cute, but she’s a hand full. She’s going to need someone to make sure she’s house broke and to go on walks and not tear up your favorite pair of shoes or get into anything that she’s not supposed to. Puppies are hard, puppies are a lot. Just keep that in mind. She’s going to work out with any family as long as she’s loved and cared for. She has high energy, so just be prepared for that,” Animal Shelter Society Executive Director April Gibson said.

The shelter invites any pet owners in need of extra bedding to stop by to pick up some straw to keep their furry friends comfortable as temperatures start to drop.

“The temperature is dropping quickly. Even though we’d like to have our animals adopted to be inside with the families, sometimes it doesn’t happen. A lot of the time, it doesn’t happen for the community cats. So, we have straw. We had a nice donor who dropped off bails of straw here for us. We want to take care of folks in the community. So, if you need straw, you can come in, bring your state ID to confirm your address and we’ll go from there,” Gibson said.

The Animal Shelter Society is located at 1430 Newark Road in Zanesville.

There are still tickets available for the “Rockin’ for Paws and Claws” concert happening on November 9th at Kick-N-Ax. Tickets are $25 and all proceeds go directly towards the Animal Shelter Society.
