Meet Dobby! The First Pet of the Week in 2025

ZANESVILLE, OH – The New Year is here and the Animal Shelter Society is excited to spotlight the first Pet of the Week for 2025.
Meet Dobby! Dobby is a one-year-old husky mix who’s been at the Shelter since Jan. 2024.
April Gibson, the Executive Director of the Animal Shelter, says Dobby does well with humans and cats but is dog selective.
“The sad thing is he’s grown up here at the Shelter and that’s not what our goal is.” Gibson said. “Our goal here is to always make sure they get into a great home and I think one of the things that holds back is that he’s dog selective. He doesn’t have a problem with kids, he is high energy, so we probably don’t want any kids under 6 -years-old. It’s not cause he’s aggressive or anything, he’s very high energy, he’s going to be running after the kids and knocking them down.“
Gibson says they’re also eagerly awaiting the Shelter’s 9th Annual Yappy Hour fundraiser.
Yappy Hour is scheduled to happen on Thursday, March 6th at the Zanesville Country Club.
Gibson also talked about a new and upcoming summertime fundraiser they’re working on.
“We’re going to do the Great Catsby, instead of Gatsby, we’re going to do the Catsby.” Gibson said. “It’s going to be at a local venue here, we’re going to do it in June, it’s going to be the roaring 20’s, food trucks lined up. So just kind of keep that in mind, we’ve been working on it for almost 2 years and it’s going to happen in 2025.”
