Meet Duke! This Week’s Dog of the Week
ZANESVILLE, OH – This Week’s Dog of the Week never meets a stranger.
Meet Duke! Duke is a 2-year-old American English Coonhound mix who is neutered, up to date on his vaccines, and loves to get all of the attention.
Doug McQuaid, a Volunteer at the Muskingum County K-9 Adoption Center, Duke appears to do well with other dogs, however he is not a fan of cats.
“But believe it or not, he is afraid of cats,” McQuaid said. “So we would make sure [people] would know that. But like I said, it usually doesn’t work that way, it’s usually the other way around.”
McQuaid also wants pet owners to make sure they’re checking in on their furry friends during severe weather. He said animals can feel when bad weather is coming long before us humans can.
“What would be great is if possible, you could bring your dog in or put them in the garage. Just somewhere where they are inside with you,” McQuaid said. “A lot of the time dogs are very scared and you don’t realize that. But if it is a situation where you have to have your dog outside, make sure there’s not a pole they could wrap themselves around or a dog box that they are confined to.”
