ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County K-9 Adoption Center Always has a four-legged friend in need of a forever home.

K-9 Adoption Center Volunteer Doug McQuaid introduced us to Gypsy. She is a timid, yet very friendly, 1-year-old, Terrier mix.

“This is Gypsy. She came in the first part of March. She seems to be house broke, very friendly and rides well in the car. Anybody of any age can walk her, she walks very well. She is cat friendly and dog selective,” McQuaid said.

The K-9 Adoption Center has moved into their new facility complete with indoor and outdoor play areas but short on volunteers.

“We’re always looking for volunteers and volunteers are a vital part of our organization,” McQuaid said. “When dogs first come in, they come in as strays. Naturally, you don’t know much about them. The first question we always get is: ‘what do you know about this dog?’ So the volunteers are able to basically let us in on information, let that information be known to other volunteers and staff members, so that we have a way to promote them.”

If you are interested in meeting Gypsy and have a dog you need to introduce to her, you should call the K-9 Adoption Center at (740) 453-0273 to set an appointment.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, you can drop by the facility located on the East Pike to fill out paperwork and learn the duties or message them on their website.
