Meet Midnight: Animal Shelter Society Pet of the Week

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- The Animal Shelter Society has named Midnight its pet of the week.
This week the shelter has featured not a dog or a cat but a rabbit. Midnight was brought to the shelter last month. She weighs almost six pounds and is neutered.
“It just goes to show what the Animal Shelter Society does for homeless animals in Muskingum County. It’s not just dogs, kittens and cats, it’s also rabbits. This rabbit was found at a local business several days ago and she has not been reclaimed, so she’s available for adoption… As you can see, she’s a really nice rabbit. There’s no aggression to her, eats her alfalfa and her food with no issues. She’s not messy, she’s just a pleasant animal to have around,” Animal Shelter Society General Manager April Cohagen-Gibson said.
The Animal Shelter Society reminds animal owners to be aware of the hot temperatures over the weekend and throughout the summer. Be sure your pet has lots of water and isn’t outside in the heat for too long.
“Again, we can’t stress this enough, if you’re going to go for a ride, make sure you’re in the vehicle with them if you’re going to go to Dairy Queen for a pup cup. Make sure they’re not left in the vehicles by themselves,” Cohagen-Gibson said.
In honor of Memorial Day, The shelter offered 50 percent off on adult cat adoption fees for U.S. Military Veterans. Today was the last day for this offer. The Animal Shelter Society is very selective with all animal adoption applications. If you would like to adopt Midnight, you can visit its website.
