Meet Peter: This Week’s Animal Shelter Society Pet of the Week

ZANESVILLE, OH – This week the Animal Shelter Society is shining the light on a dog with boundless energy.

Meet Peter! He is a 1 and a half year old, shepherd terrier mix that is up to date on his vaccinations, neutered, and ready to meet his forever family.

April Gibson, the Executive Director of the Animal Shelter Society, said Peter is dog selective but has become very close with Shelter Ambassador, Tess the dog.

She said because of his high energy, an active family would be the perfect fit for him.

“He’s just like some humans, we like some people, some people we don’t care for, he’s the same way. He’s dog selective, he just doesn’t want anybody really up in his space,” Gibson said. “ Miss Tess, our K-9 Ambassador, that’s his girlfriend here, and they get along really well. Again we don’t guarantee anything with cats but we’re going to want him to have some room to run because of the energy and what all he has going on. But he loves kids, men, women, so he would be a good fit, but an active family we’d prefer him to be with.”

Gibson also wanted to express a big thank you to everyone who donated water to the Shelter this week after the water main break on Adams Lane. She said it was wonderful to see the community come together and support the Shelter in their time of need.

“Jeff Jadwin did an amazing job getting ahold of us and recommended we boil our water,” Gibson said. “It’s just amazing and very humbling of the amount of people and the community who come together for us. Soggy Doggy, they came through with a several hundred gallon truck and container. Rotarians from all over Muskingum County came in to help us, it’s just been an amazing thing.”

The 6th annual Putt 4 Paws golf outing is also coming up on Sunday, July 28th at the Green Valley Golf Course. If you are interested in adopting Peter or signing up for Putt 4 Paws you can head to the Animal Shelter Society’s website.
