Meet Sophie

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County K-9 Adoption Center often finds well mannered dogs wandering through the community unattended and in need of a home. Sometimes they find dogs that are simply lost and their owners take them home when they learn.

K-9 Volunteer Doug McQuaid introduced us to Sophie, a playful 2-year-old terrier mix with lots of energy, who is ready for adoption.

“Today we have Sophie. She is 2-years-old. She’s a terrier mix that gets along well with other dogs and people. She’s very friendly and loves to give and get affection. She rides well in a car and is very manageable to walk. She would do absolutely wonderful with any family,” McQuaid said.

McQuaid added that Sophie seems housebroken because she keeps a clean kennel and would flourish with someone who would devote time to play with her.

The K-9 Adoption Center is looking for additional volunteers who love animals and may be looking for an enjoyable way to spend their free time.

“There are many ways you can volunteer at our facility. Not only just walking dogs but there’s other things you can do to help,” McQuaid said. “So maybe stop by and let us know what you would like to do to help. We would really appreciate that.”

McQuaid affirmed that volunteering can be very rewarding when you understand the efforts you are making and witness the results.

If you would like to meet Sophie or discuss volunteering, you can stop by the center located at 1854 East Pike, visit them online, or call (740) 453-0273.

The new facility has accommodations that are still being added and the K-9 Adoption Center is grateful to the community and local organizations who graciously support their operation.
