Meet Tessie! This Week’s Dog of the Week

ZANESVILLE, OH – This week’s Dog of the Week wants to be everyone’s best friend.

Meet Tessie! Tessie is a 4-year-old terrier mix who’s spayed, heartworm negative, and is searching for her forever family.

Doug McQuaid, a Volunteer at the Muskingum County K-9 Adoption Center, said that Tessie loves to get affection as much as she loves to give affection.

“Someone who would just like to go for walks, I’m sure she would enjoy sitting inside with you, beside you watching T.V.,” McQuaid said. “She’s just very calm, so even an older person would be wonderful for her. Even for a single person, it would be wonderful.”

McQuaid said with the snow on the ground and cold temperatures in the forecast, pet owners should make sure their pets have adequate shelter and water.

He said dogs tend to drink more water during the winter than the summer due to there being less moisture in the air.

“It’s very important, it keeps their organs going, keeps them from becoming lethargic,” McQuaid said. “It’s just like I said, it’s just something to be very mindful of. I know sometimes it’s a chore to keep frozen water thawed out but if you would please, that would be awesome.”

If you are interested in adopting Tessie or for more information you can reach out to the K-9 Adoption Center at 740-453-0273.
