Meet this Week’s Pet of the Week: Georgie!
ZANESVILLE, OH – This week’s Pet of the Week is a heart stealer.
Meet Georgie! He’s a 10-month-old domestic shorthair cat, who’s up to date on his vaccines, neutered, and ready to snuggle up with a new friend.
April Gibson, the Executive Director of the Animal Shelter Society, said if you’ve been looking to add a feline to your family, then now is the purrfect time.
Currently at the Shelter it is $19 to adopt any cat, regardless of their age.
“You know, Georgie would normally be $75 for adoption,” Gibson explained. “which with our adoptions it includes the surgery, the spay or neuter, their vaccines, their rabies, flea and tick, deworming and microchip, so we have that Valentine’s Day special going on until the end of February, it is $14 to adopt and $5 for the microchip, so it’s only $19. That’s a really good deal and you’re giving these cats a really good home.”
Gibson is also thrilled to announce the Shelter recently received a generous donation of food, litter, and other items they were in great need of.
She said that anytime an opportunity comes around to be able to support the community, her and her staff are right there making it happen.
“We got a phone call this week that 20,000 pounds of food was available, we went and rented a 26ft U-Haul, and we loaded up,” Gibson said. “In the last two days we were able to donate to 521 households over 20,000lbs of food and the average household was 4 dogs and 6 cats. Some had more, some had less, but it’s all about helping our community. Any time we can do that, it makes our lives much happier. We’re very fortunate for what we have here. It is a struggle everyday to keep our doors open but our community does it, and we want to give back. ”
The Shelter’s 9th Annual Yappy Hour Fundraiser is also quickly approaching.
Yappy Hour will take place at the Zanesville Country Club on Thursday, March 6th from 6 to 8PM.
