Meet Topanga! This Week’s Dog of the Week

ZANESVILLE, OH – This week’s Dog of the Week is a high energy pup with a heart of gold.

Meet Topanga! She’s a 1-year-old terrier mix who’s looking for her forever cuddle buddy.

Doug McQuaid, a volunteer at the K-9 Adoption Center, said Topanga is great with people and kids but would have to be the only dog in the home.

“[She’s] still a puppy, has a lot of energy, so with her being a pup she’d need a lot of time and effort,” McQuaid said. “She’s very smart, could probably be able to teach her anything you’d like. We did notice that she needs to be the only dog in the family, loves to play fetch, will run after toys, loves to get treats, she would just be a great dog with an active family.”

McQuaid said if you’ve considered adopting or fostering a dog, to ask the staff at the Adoption Center about some of their longest staying residents.

He said these dogs are often overlooked but deserve a chance to have a home.

“So many times they get looked over, they’ve been here for a long time, at no fault of their own,” McQuaid said. “We found out wonderful things about them, it just seems like maybe they’ve barked too much or they tapped the door a little too much and you thought maybe they were just a little over rambunctious, but really, truthfully, when you get them out front and outside where you can interact with them everything, they calm way down.”

If you are interested in adopting Topanga or becoming a foster, you can reach out to the K-9 Adoption Center at (740)-453-0273.
