Melvin E. Haddox, 86, of New Concord, passed away Wednesday August 3, 2011 at 5:45 PM at Beckett House of New Concord.
He was born March 28, 1925 in Beaver Falls, PA the son of the late Eugene and Vera Hollsworth Haddox. A Veteran of the US Navy, Melvin was a retired teacher for the Meadowbrook Schools. He was an amazing teacher who was devoted to his students. Melvin was a lifetime member of the VFW, enjoyed cooking and sharing his recipes, fishing at Lake Erie and could fix anything. He was a devoted husband to his wife Dottie who died over 20 years ago and a loving father and grandfather and a wonderful friend.
Melvin is survived by sons: Richard Haddox and Robin Haddox, grandson: Travis Haddox, a brother, several nieces and nephews and special friends: Clarissa McMasters and Lacritia Oberrath.
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife: Dottie, a sister and brother.
In honoring Melvin’s wishes he will be cremated.
A memorial service will be held at Melvin’s favorite fishing spot at Salt Fork off St. Rt. 285 at 11:00 AM Saturday August 6, 2011. Bring your fishing pole and cast a line in honor of Melvin.
