Men Arrested in Axe Assault

Two men have been arrested in connection with an assault last week using an axe handle.

According to the Licking County Sheriff’s Office on Friday December 18, 38-year-old Jeff Fisher was driving on Flint Ridge Road between Via Ken Road and Gratiot Road when he was confronted by 31-year-old Tom Roberts of Newark and 28-year-old Jeff Roberts of Hopewell who were in another vehicle.

After words were exchanged between the men, the Sheriff’s Office says the Roberts assaulted Fisher using an axe handle.

Fisher suffered serious injuries and was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital and then Grant Medical Center.

The Sheriff’s Office says the Roberts’ were interviewed Tuesday, admitted to the assault and were arrested.

Their case will be presented to the Licking County Grand Jury on New Year’s Eve.
