Mid East Career and Tech Center Holds Kindergarten Celebration

Mid East Kindergarten Celebration

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Families are already preparing for the start of the new school year.

Mid East Career and Technology Center hosted a kindergarten celebration of backpacks and school supply giveaways. The celebration is for all kindergartners enrolled in a Muskingum County School for the 2019-2020 school year. Several tables were set up where kids were able to receive the book bags and school supplies. Kids also had the chance to practice getting on and off the school bus and were even able to meet their school principal and teachers as well.

“We try to make it really fun. They get to meet their teachers, principals, superintendents in some cases. And really help them get the tools they need to start the school year off right,” said Mid East Adult Education Administrator, Connie Shriver.

“Just the amazing way our community comes together to make sure that our kids have what they need,” Shriver added.

Muskingum Families and Children First Council and other community agencies helped provide all the supplies for the celebration. Zanesville Varsity Girls Soccer Team were also at the event passing out supplies and doing their part to provide for the community.

“We just come and we enjoy helping pass out the supplies and see all the kindergartners getting excited to go to school. And just helping in the community,” said Co-captain of the Zanesville Varsity Girls Soccer Team, Rhaelynn Hutzel.

“This is one of the many service projects that we do as a team. And it’s just really nice to give back to the community and just help out with everything going on in the community,” said Co-captain of the Zanesville Varsity Girls Soccer Team, Melena Moore.

No registration was required for the kindergartners. The celebration went on from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
