Midwest Summer Sprint to make waves at Dillon State Park

NASHPORT, OH- This weekend marks an exciting event for Muskingum County as Dillon State Park hosts the Midwest Summer Sprint Championships.

The rowing competition will feature youth, master and open events over a 1,000-meter course.

“It is time for the regatta and that means that there are tons of rowers that will be utilizing Dillon State Park this weekend and it is open to the public, so if folks would like to head out to Dillon State Park and enjoy the rowing events that are taking place on Saturday, we want everyone in the community to know that this is happening and not only for viewing purposes but it has a huge economic impact on our county when the rowers come in, there are over 40 teams participating, there’s over 230 events happening,” said Visit Zanesville Director, Kelly Ashby.

Those who attend can expect an incredible outdoor experience that the whole family would enjoy.

“It’s a very incredible event, thousands and thousands of dollars on an economic impact to Muskingum County, and it’s just incredible that they utilize Dillon State Park and really look forward to hosting their event here because of the aesthetics and the way that Dillon Lake is, it’s a place where you can view the rowing events from start to finish and that does not happen at other locations so that’s what unique by utilizing Dillon and why people that are into rowing love that facility,” said Ashby.
